Roger's DIY Workshop

About Roger

Roger Building a Birdhouse

"Fix it. Build it. Pass it on."

Hey there — I’m Roger. As a retired woodshop teacher, Navy veteran, and lifelong do-it-yourselfer, I still believe in rolling up your sleeves, doing the job right, and leaving things better than you found ’em.

I grew up a military brat, moving base to base, seeing the world and learning the value of discipline, hard work, and freedom. After my service, I earned an education, and spent decades teaching young folks how to work with their hands and build something worth being proud of. These days, I spend more time in my home workshop — but I’ve still got the itch to teach, and that’s what this site is all about.

Roger’s DIY Workshop is my way of passing on what I’ve learned — to my kids, my grandkids, and maybe to you, too. Whether you're just getting started or looking to sharpen your skills, you'll find down-to-earth guides on woodworking, home repair, gardening, and practical prepping. No fluff, no shortcuts — just real, useful knowledge from someone who’s made all the mistakes and learned how to fix ’em.

I’m not a tech guy — my grandkids are helping me put this together — but I believe in using what works. If a website helps me share what I know, then by golly, we’re building one. This isn’t just about making birdhouses and patching drywall (although you will learn such things as you can see from my picture above). It’s really about confidence, saving money, doing things yourself, and passing those skills on so they don’t get lost.

So if you’re tired of throwing things out, hiring out, or giving up — you’re in the right place. Join my crew by clicking the button below to sign up for the newsletter — you’ll get weekly tips, projects, and a free copy of The Weekend Woodworker’s Bible to get you going. Let’s build something that lasts.

Keep building - keep learning,
